Road to recovery and a big HL sale!
So, it's been a while, huh? Things have gone from not so great to getting worse, lol! My fiance and I are all healthy, but Kiddo is still pretty sick - week #3 of antibiotics for his sinus infection. I see an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist in his future - hope so anyway - IF we can get the referral. Those of you who have national healthcare - Count Your Blessings!!!!!!! Healthcare in the US really and truly sucks! Not the medical side of things, the INSURANCE... Ok, stepping away from the soapbox before I step ON it, lol!
I am having surgery next Friday (one week from today) for my elbow. I evidently have really serious "tennis elbow" - where the tendon is detatching from the bone. The cortisone shots have been great pain relief, but they haven't done what they should have towards stimulating the healing process. The surgery sounds scary to me ---Overshare alert--- the surgeon is going to detatch the tendon from the bone, scrape both, then somehow put it all back together. Hopefully, this scraping process will stimulate healing and the tendon will fuse to the bone securely. Hopefully. Right now, I am having good days and bad days. The pain in the elbow has been going on for a while now, plus it affects my hand. My handwriting.....I really feel sorry for my professors!!! Anyway, I am a little frightened, which is very unusual for me. I think it is because I am right-handed, and the thought of losing the use of my hand, even for a short time, really upsets me. Prayers, please!
The orthopedist would not give me another cortisone shot, so I've been in some pain...even while taking hydrocodone. This has caused me to be a bit lazy in the miniatures department!!! I have been making things (bagels, various breakfast plates, etc.) but not at a very productive pace. I am hopeful that by a week after the surgery I will be able to use my hand again... Thinking positive thoughts!!!
Oh JOY!!! Hobby Lobby has been having a 50% off all miniatures sale!!! Last Friday I went in to score some plates, but they had only received in two sets. The young gentleman who works in that department said I could get a "raincheck" for however many I desired and still get the discount - You KNOW I did, too! Today, I picked up 10 packs of plates and 6 platters! Yaaay-hay!!! Half off, Yay!!!
I want to end this post on a positive note: I am very fortunate that all that is wrong with me is this stupid elbow. It is getting fixed, and soon will be all healed and pain free! A little bit more pain now, a lot of downtime for healing to come, and a bunch of my whining is a very small price to pay to get back to healthy... I am lucky, I have a wonderful surgeon and only minor aiolments... All will be better in no time at all!!! (Sometime you just have to talk yourself into courage, lol!)
Time to scoot; Apollo the cat is ready for bed. He thinks I AM HIS BED! No joke, the cat bugs me all night long trying to sleep on TOP of me, lol! Ah, I live in a zoo...
