Gosh, am I obsessed, or what?
Only time for a fast update, but I would hate for my little blog to feel neglected - so here goes...
I have been putting more effort into my dollhouse. It is finally ready to be erected, but I could use an extra pair of hands, so I am stuck in a 'holding pattern', waiting for my fiancee to find the time (and patience) to help me. He's wonderful, but like a ferret - either 90 mph or asleep! HAHAHA, I can't wait to tell him I just wrote that - he will laugh so hard!!! Seriously though, painting porch railing is b.o.r.i.n.g. Windows, too. Don't get me wrong, doing anything with my dollhouse is for me like being on holiday, but I just had to put that out there. Anyone else feel the same way?
I have been making a few minis, though. I made up a couple batches of bread loaves, 6 pizzas, and a couple of iced cakes with matching slices, one in pink and the other, lavender. They have pretty sprinkles all over. OOooh, quick tip for making good icing: use about half TLS and half corn starch! I was having trouble getting my icing thick enough to look, well, like icing - all lumpy and swirly. I decided to risk it and it worked!!! Yaaaay! I had plenty left, so I made up some chocolate truffles with lavender crosses and swirls. Using a toothpick, that icing really held together to make a loooong thin string for decorating the tiny candies!
Oh yes, I made a sofa using directions from this link! It was easy, and turned out great! I thank my fiancee's mom for buying me the fabric... It has taken me a while to decide what I wanted to make with it, but a sofa was a great option because the pattern and color (pale green with hearts and stripes) fit into my ideas for the living area of my dollhouse. I want to make it sort of 1950's country-ish... Cute, but not cutesy. I happened to have some dark green fabric that looks good next to the sofa, so I think it will be made into a chair.....hmmmm.
Now, I need to make an inventory of what miniatures I have ready to sell, and what miniatures I wish to add. I think I am about ready to open up shop on Etsy!!! Wish me luck. My goal is to make enough money to merely keep making miniatures - break even, if you will. Of course it would be nice to make a little more so that I can dress my dollhouse with pretty furnishings. Oh yeah, I have a couple of roomboxes in my head that are screaming to be made... Gosh, am I obsessed, or what?
