SteveTell us a bit of random stuff about yourself (not miniature related)...

Retired from a flooring mfg. Very active in emergency services. Interested in history. Collect old local photos.

Collector, creator or both?...

Creator

What do you specialise in?...

Houses

When did you first get interested in creating miniatures and why?...

About 5 years ago. My DW builds kits & I said I could do as well from scratch. She said "Show me." Been building ever since.

Where do you create your miniatures?

I built a very small workshop on the end of my house. I have houses sitting all over the place !

Log031What is the oddest thing you've created?

I would have to say my Diagon Alley Magic Shoppe.

Who inspires you?...

Everything ! Real life, movies, tv, other people's work.

When your mind is blank...who inspires you?...

I can't recall my mind ever being blank. I always have several ideas going at the same time.

Do you do commissions and if so what sort of things do you get requested to make?...

I was asked to do the Greenleaf school bus kit & use an emergency services theme for them to use in a hurricane relief project. This is the only one I have done.

What's  your "other" job or is it miniatures all the way?...

I am retired, but very active in several volunteer groups.

If you hadn't started miniatures what would you have liked to have done instead?...

Among other things, I do a lot of woodworking & home repair/remodelling.

Potter236sWhat does your family think of  your obsession?...

I guess you could say that they are impressed. Especially that I have the patience to do minis.

Do you plan each creation or do you run with your imagination?...

Half & half. I start with a rough drawing, but change it a dozen times as I progress.

Do you do fairs?...

No. It's too much to transport large, fragile houses.

If you could change anything about the miniature profession, what would it be?...
I can't think of anything.
Deli30sPros and cons?...
It keeps me busy & my mind active. I've met a lot of nice people & some not so nice. The cons , the price of the items & that I don't have the money to buy everything !
If you could create any miniature what would it be?...
I don't know. I have several that I would like to do, but not the time or materials.
Is there a miniature task/project that you’ve been putting off or procrastinating about for a long time?:
No. I usually have a couple going at the same time & work on the priority one as I find the time.
What is your ultimate goal?...

I would really like to get a business going to sell my minis & make a few extra dollars.

Baker0002FsDescribe yourself in 3 words...

I am me ! I don't try to be someone else or want to be. What you see is what you get ! I don't 'put on airs' to impress others.

Anything you would like to add?

I am a cancer survivor & have always led a very active life. Minis & the friends I've met have become a very important part of it.
